Each December the Calabar Carnival turns the city into a moving festival — five competing bands, thousands of dancers in elaborate costumes, brass and drums shaking the streets for kilometres.

Local tip: Even if it's not December, locals love reminiscing about Carnival — ask if they danced in a band.
